Compeer is defined as "equal, companion, match, peer" in Webster's Dictionary. This program enables persons recovering from emotional problems or mental illness to be matched with a person in the community for friendship and support. Bonds are fomed between individuals to prevent isolation which often occurs with people with mental illness. Stigma is removed and society is enriched.
